10 WWE "Shoot" Moments Absolutely Nobody Believed
3. Raw Underground
Ah, Raw Underground.
The "shoot" fighting pit, worked to look like a "shoot" despite it still quite obviously being a "work". Confused? So were much of the poor people at home, relying on WWE at a time when most of the planet had been locked away due to the global health crisis.
Shane McMahon's Fight Club was initially presented as a behind closed doors affair involving underused and up-and-coming talent dressed in jeans, all of them performing "shoot" moves such as various MMA-style holds/takedowns. However, once the first edition of the murky alternative to that fake product we happily tune into every week was out of the way, fans soon saw Raw Underground for exactly what it was; The usual quick squashes and two minute end-to-end contests we'd usually find on Raw or SmackDown, only this time they were under a messy, dingy filter.
Not a single person believed (or understood) a thing about this anything goes arena, which likely wasn't helped by the fact that the rules seemed to change weekly.
In the end, it came as little surprise when WWE eventually pulled the plug on this odd Shane-O-Mac fantasy. Now everybody follows the first rule of Raw Underground...
