10 WWE "Shoot" Moments Absolutely Nobody Believed

Back before John Cena was the undisputed biggest name of the modern WWE era, the "Doctor of Thuganomics" found himself involved in a feud with SmackDown newcomer Carlito.

However, the future titan of the industry had a busy looking schedule over the coming weeks as he was due to start filming The Marine. So, WWE decided to use his impending absence as a way to add some extra spice into the United States Championship programme. After Cena dropped the belt to Carlito on the blue show, the star was reportedly stabbed in the kidney by the new Champion's associate, Jesus, much to the shock and horror of the WWE audience...for all of about five minutes.

Then, when fans witnessed Teddy Long explain the incident to the rest of the SmackDown locker room before quickly moving onto deciding who Carlito's new challenger would be, it became abundantly clear to them that this whole scenario was merely part of a storyline.

Cena returned a month later at Survivor Series and immediately picked up where he left off with Carlito and his bodyguard, reclaiming his U.S. Championship and brushing off his "injury" soon after.
