10 WWE Stars Who Made Bold Claims They Failed To Back Up
7. The Nexus Will Dominate The WWE For Years To Come
When the Nexus first debuted they took WWE by storm. Attacking John Cena (who stayed down for the beating) the former NXT Rookies dismantled the ring in one of the best show closing segments in Raws 20 plus year history. Seriously! Seeing the seven young superstars systematically destroy WWE's poster boy (as well as Randy Orton. Edge, Chris Jericho, Bret Hart, Vince McMahon and even the Undertaker) was like a gust of fresh air. Leader Wade Barrett claimed that the Nexus would reign supreme over WWE for years to come. Then they lost in their first PPV match. Despite an epic debut, the faction was no longer allowed to look competitive against the WWEs top stars. It was as if WWE had suddenly regretted giving the group so much, and decided to take it all away. The Nexus scored meaningless wins over midcarders like John Morrison and R-Truth, but failed to defeat anyone relevant without assistance. Within three months WWE even began trimming the excess baggage when John Cena destroyed Michael Tarver and Darren Young, removing them from TV. At the end of 2010, John Cena easily defeated Wade Barrett at the TLC event and literally buried the Brit under a pile of chairs. Barrett would go on to form the Corre, whereas his former team mates teamed with new leader CM Punk as the New Nexus. Neither faction was a success. For anybody!
As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG.
I may have a problem!
But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
