10 WWE Stars Who Made Bold Claims They Failed To Back Up
6. Drew McIntyre Is The Future Of The WWE
In 2009 Vince McMahon himself introduced his hand picked chosen one Drew McIntyre. The Sinister Scotsman certainly looked like a main eventer, but unfortunately he had about as much charisma as a brick wall and his matches were ... well they just weren't very good. That's not to knock the mans abilities. At the time FCW (the predecessor to NXT) was churning out an assembly line of wrestlers who all wrestled the same styles and cut the same kind of promos. It didn't matter how Drew had learned to wrestle previously when he was suddenly taught to wrestle exactly like Jack Swagger or Sheamus or Wade Barrett. Only his finisher was different from everyone else's moves and fans didn't take to the Chosen One like WWE had hoped. Though Drew improved in the ring overtime, with good midcard matches with John Morrison and Kofi Kingston, WWE demoted him further and further down the card. They had lost interest in him and they decided to punish him for his ex wife Tiffany's (now Taryn Terrell in TNA) off-screen behaviour. By 2012 McIntyre was demoted down to NXT where he briefly feuded with then champion Seth Rollins and then brought back to the main roster as one third of popular jobber stable 3MB. After being released along with Jinder Mahal, Brodus Clay and many others this year, Drew Galloway has since returned to his roots in Scotland's ICW promotion. Cutting a thunderous promo before the Glasgow crowd, McIntyre showed a side of himself few knew existed in WWE. He has since toured all over Scotland and joined the EVOLVE promotion in the States where he won their heavyweight title by defeating fellow WWE castoff Chris Hero. He may not have lived up to his promise of being the future, but at least Drews own future looks very promising indeed.
As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG.
I may have a problem!
But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
