10 WWE Stars Who Made Bold Claims They Failed To Back Up

5. Pin-Up Strong Would Bring A Serious Approach To The Divas Division

After Kharmas departure the WWE tried to recapture her anti-divas stance by teaming together atypical divas Beth Phoenix and Natalya. Known as Pin-up Strong, they claimed they were sick of hired models like Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres being pushed ahead of them and ruining the perception of female wrestling. They vowed to bring a serious side back to the Divas division. Unfortunately they did not. They were defeated very easily by the rest of the Divas and the team was actually dropped and forgotten about within a couple of months. It was also counterproductive that they were booked as heels, when most fans wholeheartedly agreed that the Divas division had become a joke. Pin-up strong were presented as villains for wanting their division to be taken seriously, while fans were being instructed to cheer for the models who had made the division into a joke. Worse still nobody ever actually used the word "wrestling" (it was banned at the time because WWE considers themselves a Global Entertainment company). Instead the commentators suggested that Beth Phoenix and Natalya were simply jealous because neither of them fit the typical image of a WWE Diva. So yeah! What should have been a story about the two best female workers in the company campaigning for a more serious approach to women's wrestling, turned out to be a story about the two muscular women taking out their insecurities on the pretty girls. Hows that for a serious approach?

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
