10 WWE Stars Undertaker Succeeded In Elevating To The Next Level

3. John Cena

Although Undertaker€™s feud with John Cena was relatively short, it was no less notable in how it elevated Cena€™s career. On Cena€™s first night on SmackDown, after challenging Angle to a match, many WWE Superstars shook his hand, including the Undertaker. While this could€™ve been just a short segment written for that specific episode of SmackDown, it did a lot to elevate Cena€™s image. The fact that the legendary Undertaker shook his hand on his first night was as big a sign as any that WWE€™s management was keeping a close eye on his career. Fast forward a year later, and Undertaker€™s working a short program with Cena, who by then was the highly-entertaining heel rapper. The matches they had were done to elevate Cena, including several moments when he pinned Undertaker clean. For a rookie to pin the Undertaker in the middle of the ring after being in the company less than a year was a major benefit to Cena€™s career. Though he wouldn€™t reach the main event level until 2005, by defeating the Undertaker, Cena toppled one of WWE€™s most important figures, and suddenly his star power rose even higher. Indeed, Undertaker€™s star power rubbed off on Cena during their 2003 feud, and Cena can thank the Deadman for elevating him during a crucial time in his career.
