10 WWE Stars Who Failed In WCW
3. British Bulldog
Despite having a pretty successful run with the company in 1993, Davey Boy Smith's return to WCW in 1998 was world's apart from the main events and title shots he became accustomed to five years earlier.
Smith was immediately entered into an uninspired mid-card feud with Steve McMichael. 'Mongo's limited in-ring ability made the assignment a tough task for Bulldog and his debut bout was far from his best work.
Bulldog quickly aligned himself with Jim Neidhart and the two became a recurring tag team. However, by the time September came around, Bulldog's spot on the card was much the same as it was when he entered eight months earlier. At Fall Brawl '98, Smith and Neidhart teamed against Disco Inferno and Alex Wright in a disastrous match that almost ended Smith's career.
During the match, Smith landed on the trap door set up beneath the canvas for The Warrior's mystical entrance later that night. The awkward fall would eventually lead to a spinal infection that saw Smith confined to a wheelchair in the aftermath.
The injury and near paralysis resulted in a morphine addiction that curtailed his career for 12 months, before he made his eventual return to the WWF in late '99.
