10 WWE Stars Who Should Have Been World Champion By Now

2. John Morrison

John Morrison is a shocking omission in the list of Former WWE World Champions. Causing confusion, he held the WWE ECW Championship for 69 days, though that title was an overtrumped mid-card trinket that disrespected the extreme promotion’s legacy. WWE ECW is better best forgotten.

Outside of WWE, Morrison is a proven world champion, holding titles in Impact Wrestling, Lucha Underground, and AAA. His run in Impact Wrestling was particularly notable in showcasing Morrison’s ability to be a promotion’s main man. Under his reign, the fledgling Impact Wrestling climbed its way back into the affections of wrestling fans.

When Morrison returned to WWE in early 2020, it was natural for him to reunite with The Miz. The former Tag Team Champions work perfectly with each other both in the ring and on the mic. Still, Morrison is an athlete in his prime, young enough to perform the highflying athletic offence he is known for and mature enough to have near 20 years of in-ring experience. Morrison’s partnership with The Miz has plenty of mileage, and there is the chance of Franky Monet joining him on the main roster, but the time has never been better for Morrison to breakout into world championship stardom.
