10 WWE Stars Who Teased Leaving In A Big Way
1. Randy Orton
Whether you thought it was ever a realistic possibility or not, Randy Orton played an absolute blinder in 2019.
Orton was in the middle of re-negotiating a deal with the company he had become synonymous with, when things took an odd turn.
Instead of sitting pretty in the knowledge that he would more than likely be offered a decent enough extension - with fewer tour dates and more bonuses no doubt - Orton opted to flex his social media muscles and in turn sent the wrestling masses into meltdown.
Posting a picture on his Instagram of himself looking at a sign which said the word 'ELITE' on it, fans instantly made the connection and assumed that Orton was angling for a move over to Tony Khan's AEW.
Now, it would have taken some serious dollar to persuade Orton to leave behind his WWE legacy (no pun intended) and step into a deeply unfamiliar environment where his success was not guaranteed. But, for a moment, fans dreamed of the possibility.
Orton would eventually sign a lucrative five year extension and even sealed the deal with a Twitter post saying 'Looking forward to p*ssing off the #WWEUNIVERSE for at least 5 more years'. Despite the fact that it probably wouldn't have happened, this big tease briefly looked to be hinting at a game-changing move for WWE's The Apex Predator.
