Former NXT Champion, Samoa Joe, had an extended stay in the development territory before he appeared on the main roster. 'The Samoan Submission Machine' worked as a face in the first few months of his WWE career, where he saved Sami Zayn from an attack of Kevin Owens and also teamed up with Finn Balor to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. He soon turned on his partner, thereby embracing his dark side.

The writers of the Black and Gold brand gave him two reigns with their premier title before sending him on RAW. Although he is yet to capture a world championship on the main roster, Joe has been a prominent name in the company. 'The Destroyer' gave details of his first meeting with Triple H in his 'WWE Chronicle' documentary, stating that 'The Game' doubted if he could go beyond the NXT system one day.

Here's what the father of the organization's third brand told: "Hey, you know, you coming in here, it will be a great help to NXT and you can do your own stuff, and I think we can have a good working relationship. But I'll be honest with you, I don't think Vince [McMahon] is looking to put a late 30-something, you know, looking to promote him up to the main roster."

However, Joe has proved the backstage officials wrong with his tremendous work inside the squared circle.
