10 WWE Superstars Who Were Humiliated In Their Hometowns

9. Phoenix Down In Buffalo - Night Of Champions 2011

Beth Phoenix, the €œGlamazon€ of WWE, had the look and talent of a champion. If anyone deserved to be WWE Divas Champion back in 2011, it was her. When she faced Kelly Kelly for the Divas Championship at Night of Champions, which took place in Beth€™s hometown of Buffalo, New York, everyone was sure that Beth was going to become the champion. There was no reason not to put the title on her, and with a diva like Kelly Kelly holding the title, the fans were ready to see a legitimate woman wrestler hold the gold. Yet on that very night, in Phoenix€™s own hometown of Buffalo, New York, the Glamazon had to feel the sting of defeat as Kelly countered her powerbomb with a roll up victory. It was a shocking upset that the fans certainly didn€™t want to see, and the hope of seeing a new champion crowned in her hometown were dashed once more. WWE may be able to make dreams come true every once in awhile, but they can also crush dreams just as effectively. Eventually Beth would go on to become Divas Champion again, but the victory surely wasn€™t as sweet as it could have been in Buffalo.
