Current Finisher: Salida del Sol (Standing Sitout Shiranui)

Unlike Eva Marie, who uses the finisher in an attempt to improve her reputation, Kalisto uses a version of the Shiranui because it looks impressive. There isn’t anything wrong with this move being used by a small wrestler; the problem is that this move is starting to suffer from over-exposure, as it’s being used by the aforementioned Eva and has also been previously associated with Seth Rollins.

In order for Kalisto to really take off in terms of appeal, he needs to ditch the Shiranui, and adopt a move that’s more closely associated with the extreme speed and technical mastery associated with Rey Mysterio (the man they’re trying to replicate with Kalisto in the first place).

Suggested New Finisher: Dragonrana

There are few moves in pro wrestling more exciting and unbelievable in execution than the Dragonrana: a forward flip onto an opponent’s shoulders and then flipped round into a Hurricanrana.

This move would be perfect for Kalisto. It makes perfect use of his smaller size and greater agility, and it speaks of better days in WWE, when cruiserweights were given more opportunities to show off their impressive agility. These days, we see very few genuine cruiserweight moves outside of the odd dive and back-flip, and even those are losing their lustre due to their being used by heavier wrestlers.

If WWE’s serious about making Kalisto into the next Rey Mysterio, then he needs to start emulating the things that made Mysterio so wildly popular in the first place. He already has the cool mask, so now he needs the cool finisher to go with it.
