Dean Ambrose hadn't been the brand leader WWE and his fans perhaps thought he might have been when given the company's top title on the eve of the history 2016 roster split redux.

Ultimately, the title was taken from him by AJ Styles in an excellent contest that kicked off a scintillating series between the pair. It was everything Ambrose needed in defeat to retain his heat on the blue brand. That was until John Cena popped in for a one-month interruption.

Ahead of Cena giving him an Attitude Adjustment to close the segment and bullishly tossing him around in their No Mercy triple threat (won again by AJ), 'The Lunatic Fringe' even dropped some home truths on 'The Champ' in their go-home verbals.

'Anybody who's a threat to you, you undercut them, you cut their legs out from underneath and you stab them in the back. you've been trying to do that to me since day one. You got zero respect for me...I know that'. Ambrose didn't know how right he was, and it took Cena departing following the match to even remotely rebuild him for the subsequent Styles rematches.
