10 WWE Superstars Who Are Overdue A Main Roster Push
6. Andrade
Following an excellent run as NXT Champion, Andrade was drafted to SmackDown, along with manager Zelina Vega, as part of the 2018 Superstar Shake-up. Apart from a final four finish at the 2019 Royal Rumble, and a run with the United States Championship, Andrade has had an unremarkable tenure on the main roster.
Andrade suffered, as many other NXT call-ups have, from being promoted to the main roster despite no plans being in place for him. He had an excellent program with Rey Mysterio during his US Title run, but since dropping the belt, Andrade hasn’t been able to build any momentum. He was one of the wrestlers who suffered the most when Paul Heyman was removed from his role as Executive Director of RAW, as Heyman had plans to push the former Andrade if he had been given more time. Andrade most recently suffered a loss to his former tag team partner Angel Garza, in mid-October, and hasn’t been seen on Monday nights since he and Vega were attacked by The Fiend and Alexa Bliss, following the match.
Unfortunately, the recent departure of Vega from WWE will, likely, have a negative impact on Andrade. Unless he gets another manager, the company may not see Andrade as someone worth pushing, unless he works on his English. Given his excellent work rate and terrific move-set, Andrade could be an upper mid-card performer if booked properly, but so far, creative’s handling of him has been nothing short of a failure.
