In 2003, Goldberg finally ended a two-year hiatus from the wrestling industry by signing with World Wrestling Entertainment and providing fans with their first opportunity to see the iconic WCW star inside a Vince McMahon-owned ring. Unfortunately, the boss' inability and unwillingness to look at dollars instead of personal vendettas reared its ugly head. See, Goldberg was a monster of a star created by someone other than the billionaire genius so he was treated and booked poorly right out of the gate. So it should have been of no great surprise to anyone when, in 2004, he opted to depart from the company rather than re-sign. At WrestleMania XX, in a legitimate dream match of sorts, he squared off again Brock Lesnar. Unfortunately, the epic encounter turned into a nightmare as they bored the vocal New York crowd, who rained down on both competitors with curses. Goldberg won the match with a Jackhammer, beating the Superstar with the most promise of any in the business.\ Then he ate a Stone Cold Stunner, much to the delight of fans far too happy to wave goodbye to the former Atlanta Falcon.
