10 WWE Superstars Who Had Shockingly Long Tenures
1. Bob Holly
Bob Holly spent an unbelievable 15 consecutive years wrestling for the WWE. During that time he went through a few different incarnations, Thurman 'Sparky' Plugg, Bob 'Spark Plug' Holly, Bombastic Bob, and finally Hardcore Holly. The one thing all these personas had in common was that they never ascended beyond the mid card.
Holly's early career was spent primarily as a borderline enhancement talent where his main task was to make others look good. While wrestling under his NASCAR (Spark Plug and Sparky Plugg) gimmicks he was consistently seen on WWE Superstars putting over the mid card, with the exception of winning the tag team titles with the 1-2-3 Kid for a day. This point was accentuated by the fact that he was in a faction called the 'J.O.B. Squad' a group of wrestlers who jobbed. This gimmick was a transition to Holly's most successful persona, Hardcore Holly, where he went on to win the WWE Hardcore Championship six times. Holly would end his career after 15 active years in the WWE.
Though he never achieved great success, Bob Holly had a very long career in the WWE and was given multiple opportunities to establish himself. Holly owes his longevity to being a true utility player, taking on whatever role creative wanted him to with enthusiasm. He also, perhaps infamously, was known for being a locker room leader and true tough guy (something Vince McMahon loves) as evidenced by his stint as a trainer on Tough Enough and beating Daniel Puder silly during the 2005 Royal Rumble match. This kind of longevity as a full time worker is unheard of in today's day and age and is proof that there is a place in this business for those who toil on the undercard.
