10 WWE Superstars Who Have The Wrong Character Alignment

7. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler’s WWE career is an anomaly. Neither coming from the early 2000s rookie class that gave us John Cena, Randy Orton, and Batista, nor coming up through the NXT class that gave us pretty much every other major star, Ziggler has always felt like a man without a country.

Despite that, in 2013 and 2014, Ziggler had massive fan support behind him. He parlayed that into a Money In The Bank cash in on Monday Night Raw, winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Alberto Del Rio in one of the most exciting cash-ins in WWE history.

After a string of concussions and a loss of faith in Ziggler by the front office, he’s spent the past few years floundering in the mid-card. After being drafted to SmackDown Live, Ziggler managed to gain some semblance of his past successes back with a compelling feud with The Miz, culminating in an Intercontinental Championship win in a title vs. career match.

Since winning the title however, Ziggler has been somewhat stagnant. A heel turn going into WrestleMania season could put him in line to face off with a rumored to be face-turning AJ Styles in a program for the WWE Championship.

Ziggler’s character has always worked better as a heel. Even as a face, all of his catchphrases and mannerisms are cocky and showy. He calls himself the show off. His twitter handle is even @Heelziggler, for God’s sakes. It’s clear that Ziggler’s character works better as a heel. WWE should consider embracing that and letting Ziggler explore areas of his heel persona heretofore unexplored.
