10 WWE Superstars Who Must Retire In 2017
5. Dolph Ziggler
Sorry Dolph, we love you but you're not going anywhere in WWE anytime soon.
Admittedly, Ziggler's had a pretty impressive 2016 and his work against The Miz (who himself has been rejuvenated this year) created one of the best feuds in wrestling. However, once his work against the Miz finished, obvious questions started to pop up of what Ziggler could feasibly do next. He's facing A.J. Styles soon for the WWE championship, admittedly, but that very much feels like a stopgap feud for A.J. en-route to bigger and better things at Mania.
Quite frankly, Ziggler is stale. Back when he re-signed his WWE contract in mid-2015, he had the chance to reinvent his character but he kept on chugging along as he was. In addition, WWE have given the poor guy so many start/stop pushes that the fans are no longer invested in getting behind him. There were rumours ahead of his Career vs Title match against The Miz earlier this year that Ziggler was seriously considering walking away from the ring. If he did, we're sure he'd do great in a backstage role with WWE, or even on the independent or comedy scenes where he'd have a lot more freedom creatively.
