10 WWE Superstars Without Direction Following WrestleMania & Greatest Royal Rumble

8. Elias

As he has done for the majority of his time on the main roster, Elias has remained over in spite of his own in-ring ability and the company's creative indecision with his character.

A gimmick is only as good as the person performing it, and the former 'Drifter' has been utterly magnificent as a midcard irritant since WWE doubled down on his mid-show gigs and fabulous utilisation of those very initials. Perhaps as unconvinced as the audience appear to be though, the organisation have yet to afford him a programme with any emotional heft.

His troll-job of John Cena at WrestleMania only masked the group's lack of faith that he could do much more on the big night, and didn't even mask it that long - Cena easily dispatched him as comic relief before The Undertaker trotted out for his quick squash over 'The Champ'. The Superstar Shake-up's imbalanced favouring of SmackDown Live! didn't exactly furnish Elias with new victims to take guitars over the head, and fans may tire of his contrarian concerts in the months to come. An out-and-out babyface turn may be required before the hated heel only draws ignominy and indifference.
