10 WWE Tag Teams That Broke Up Way Too Soon

2. Carlito And Primo

Primo was promoted from FCW to WWE's main roster at a very strange time in August 2008, shortly before SummerSlam where he was instantly lost in the shuffle on Raw. He won his debut match, disappeared from TV, and jumped ship over to SmackDown less than a month later where he and his brother Carlito came together as a tag team.

In their second only match together, they beat Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder to become WWE Tag Team champions. It was an excellent use of both men, and obviously as brothers, their chemistry was strong. They didn't defend their twin titles a ton in the remainder of 2008, but they did have an enjoyable series of matches with John Morrison and The Miz heading into WrestleMania 25.

It was at The Show of Shows where they won the World Tag Team Championship and merged the tag titles for the first time. They reigned as Unified Tag Team champions for a few more months before dropping the straps in the summer to Edge and Chris Jericho and splitting up the very next week. But why?

Having been in WWE for five years by that point, it was evident Carlito was never going to be a breakout singles star, and Primo was certainly not ready to thrive in one-on-one competition. Carlito floundered up until his release from the company the subsequent spring.
