2. The Kabuki Warriors Vs. Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair

Kairi Sane clearly suffered some sort of head or equilibrium-rattling injury at some point during this hugely disappointing main event, and should be credited not just for gutting the rest of the contest out but for (presumably) trying to follow through with everything attempted by the quartet in a match that did far too much and not enough of it well.

Assuming Sane stays fit throughout, does this clunky, clumsy weapons brawl get a lot better? At the finish, perhaps. During a ponderous middle, surely not. Rich in ideas but dirt poor in execution the women's Tag Team Title match saw all Sane, Asuka, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair all take their lumps for the good of the cause, but the cause felt so facile that the match collapsed under the weight of itself.

Lynch getting tied to a ladder like an old-timey damsel on a train track was fine in theory but simply ludicrous within the confines of a match supposed to function as a demolition derby. A series of orchestrated weapon assaults felt orchestrated against the logic of just getting the f*ck up that ladder and unhooking the belts, and the less said about a closing sequence naturally hamstrung by Sane's aforementioned injury, the better.

This didn't work, and more's the pity. Vince McMahon will feel burned by two consectuive poor pay-per-view main events from the women's division following on from Survivor Series. It may take some convincing for him to concede to the next one.
