10 WWE TV Matches That Were Better Than They Had Any Right To Be
1. Bret Hart Vs. 1-2-3 Kid (Raw, 11/07/94)
Bret Hart had put his WWE title on the line and, based on the logic of the early Monday Night Raw product, this main star would surely be squashing the green as grass 1-2-3 Kid.
Bret Hart didn't do squash matches and the fans praised that mentality as the future X-Pac caught fire, holding his own and then some against 'The Hitman'. A kid out-wrestling the 'Excellence of Execution' was unheard of at the time and Hart sold the threat as something to take seriously, thus raising the Kid's profile to that of a future star. Hart showed legitimacy in the contest by signalling to the ref that the Kid had his leg on the ropes, following a pinfall attempt (you don't see that every day) but took no prisoners when handing out a battering to his foe.
Fans in the vicinity took pity on the beat-down the 1-2-3 Kid was consuming and rallied behind him. Unfortunately, defeat was inevitable against the vastly more experienced Canadian, with the Kid tapping out to the Sharpshooter.
Hart patted the youngster on the back after the bout and the fans did the same with their applause. They knew the Kid had talent after knocking off Razor Ramon the year prior, but this was a performance even they couldn't believe.
