10 WWE Tweaks Triple H Needs To Make Quickly
9. Hello First Names, My Old Friend...
What's in a name?
Well, in the world of professional wrestling, quite a lot actually. Which sounds better - Riddle or Matt Riddle? Ciampa or Tommaso Ciampa? Theory (lolz) or Austin Theory.
There are some slightly troubling reasons why some of these names might have been dropped, as both Riddle and Theory both had a few allegations headed their way during the #SpeakingOut movement. By removing the first names, did WWE hope it would make searching for their stars a safer place?
Removing the first names has removed a little credibility from the acts. Sure, the single name worked for the likes of Edge and Batista but that was many moons again. Imagine if Kenny Omega suddenly just became Omega?
We are in an era where our professional wrestlers have never felt more human, especially as they are all over social media. The fact that all three of these competitors have previously been on WWE TV with their first names just makes it a bit sillier. Returning their first names is a quick and easy fix, one the fans are yearning for, and it would help some of the WWE's new wave of stars feel a little more credible.
