10 WWE Wrestlers Who Desperately Need New Finishers
2. John Morrison
John Morrison is in a similar boat as Dolph Ziggler in that he's been around for so long that it may be difficult for him to start using a new finisher entirely. However, he had the perfect opportunity to return to WWE with anything other than Starship Pain as his finishing maneuver but didn't, despite how ineffective it is.
The Shaman of Sexy originally used the Nitro Blast (a superkick) as his finisher before transitioning to the Moonlight Drive (a corkscrew neckbreaker) once he changed his last name from Nitro to Morrison in 2007. The uber-flashy Starship Pain (a split-legged corkscrew moonsault), which he introduced following his move to SmackDown in the spring of 2009, fit his new face persona nicely, but rarely did he connect with it.
Regardless of where he's wrestled in the last decade, whether it's been WWE, Lucha Underground or IMPACT, the move has almost always looked hokey because of how he tends to over-shoot his opponent. He ends up hitting the mat (barely the person) before pinning them for the win.
It might be a bit better if he were to aim more accurately, but otherwise, it's a dumb finisher for an otherwise exceptional performer.
