There was a time in WWE a few years ago where the most unlikeliest of people were getting suspended for violating the Wellness Policy: from Heath Slater to Sin Cara to referee Mike Chioda, no one safe from suspension. Evan Bourne was among that group of misfits, getting busted for smoking synthetic marijuana in late 2011. It also came at an inappropriate time when he was one half of the WWE Tag Team champions with Kofi Kingston, though he wasn't stripped of the gold because he was only out for 30 days. Upon his return to the ring, it didn't take long for Bourne to get suspended for a second time in late January. Since he'd be out of action for 60 days this time, WWE had no choice but to take the straps off both he and Kingston. Unfortunately, he was never able to make a return to TV after sitting on the sidelines for two years with a serious foot injury, getting released from his contract in June 2014. The high-flyer (which now has more than one meaning) later stated in a shoot interview that summer he regretted his actions and admitted to being "hooked on it" at the time of his suspensions. The former tag champ had a promising career in WWE and it's a bummer his drug addiction had to get in the way of that. Fortunately, he's doing well for himself now in Ring of Honor and revealed in that same interview he hasn't smoked marijuana since.
