10 WWE Wrestlers Who Got Over Against ALL Odds

2. Dominik Mysterio

The apple often doesn't fall far from the tree in wrestling; just look at Cody Rhodes. Unfortunately, there are times when that apple splats on the ground and breaks open. The son of the legendary Rey Mysterio came dangerously close to finding that out for himself.

Dominik Mysterio debuted in a prominent spot alongside his father at SummerSlam 2020. Sadly, everything from his move-set to his wardrobe made him look and feel like a discount version of his luchador dad. He had little character, average in-ring work, and no connection to the audience.

If things had continued that way, he'd have been a surefire flop. However, Dominik received a lifeline when he betrayed his father, turned heel, and joined The Judgement Day. Who could have predicted that this decision would lead to him becoming a bonafide heat magnet?

Dirty Dom is currently one of the most entertaining figures in WWE. His heel persona is fantastic, his chemistry with Rhea Ripley is boundless, and his in-ring work has improved dramatically. The man really has carved out a legacy for himself with some excellent character work and gotten over in a way no one expected.
