The Quebecers' final world tag title run came to an end in May 1994 on an episode of RAW at the hands of Samu and Fatu, collectively known as The Headshrinkers. The Samoan duo had spent the previous two years treading water in the middle of the tag team division and it wasn't until they added Captain Lou Albano to the mix that championship success came their way.

After Samu left the company, Fatu cycled through a number of gimmicks (Make A Difference Fatu and The Sultan) before returning full time as Rikishi Phatu in November 1999. No mention was made of the man's history with the company and his drastically different look (he had put on a lot of weight and dyed his hair blonde) led many to believe it was a different man entirely.

It was as Rikishi that most fans will know the man known to his mother as Solofa Fatu Jr., and as Big 'Kish he won the Intercontinental Championship as well as getting two more runs with the tag titles alongside Rico and Scotty 2 Hotty. When Fatu was plying his trade as the more engaging member of a fairly unassuming midcard tag team singles success seemed a lifetime away - in reality it was just a gimmick tweak around the corner.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
