WCW was an absolute bin fire by 1999. Eric Bischoff's grand scale nWo idea was on its last legs, and he was in dire need of a break after watching the WWF wrestle back control as the number one company in North America. Whilst looking for their next big hit, WCW toyed with bringing in Sable following her bitter split from the McMahons.
She actually appeared in the crowd on an episode of Nitro, but that threatened to spill into the courtroom due to her non-compete clause with the federation. Then, there was the ongoing 'whodunit' angle involving a hummer that crashed into Kevin Nash's limo. WCW squeezed a ton of mileage from guessing who was behind the wheel, but they'd never come through on the big reveal
Rather shockingly, Sable was considered as the driver at one point. No, that wouldn't have made a lick of sense (why would she put herself in harm's way to get back at the ex-Diesel for literally nothing?!), but not much did about WCW in '99. They were on their own collision course with a total collapse. Being fair, no-one knew that the promotion would cease to exist less than 2 years later.
WCW's announcers even implied that Sable could've been driving the hummer on air, which is incredible when they didn't know if she was going to be on the roster or not. That jump from the WWF didn't happen in the end - Sable went back to McMahon in 2003 for another whirl.
