11 Female Wrestlers Who Were In WWE At The Wrong Time

5. Michelle McCool

You can't talk about Layla without mentioning Michelle McCool. As half of one of the most iconic (no pun intended) female duos in WWE history, Michelle was as equally talented in the ring as she was on the microphone. However, as a solo competitor, she carved out a great legacy for herself.

Not many people remember this, but Michelle actually started her WWE career as a contestant in the 2004 Diva Search competition, which was ultimately won by Christy Hemme. Despite not winning, Michelle was signed to a developmental contract, reporting to Ohio Valley Wrestling for training. When she was brought back to the main roster, she found herself playing the role of a "sexy teacher", the villainous manager for the team of K.C. James and Idol Stevens, the latter of which many fans know as Damien Sandow.

From there, she began to compete regularly in the ring, getting better and better with each match. She captured both the Divas and Women's Championships twice, becoming the first woman to hold both titles.

Ever since stepping away from WWE, she has returned sporadically over the years, competing in the first Women's Royal Rumble Match as well as the battle royal at WWE's first all women's pay per view, Evolution. While her career took place during a time when the booking of the female talent was very inconsistent, one could argue that she could put on amazing matches with someone like Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch today.

Evan has been a wrestling fan since the age of seven, a time when children should not have been watching wrestling. That's right...the attitude era!! He loves talking about wrestling, writing about wrestling, and fantasizing about working for a wrestling company one day. Aside from that, he loves all things pop culture: movies, music, and TV. He also loves to read, travel (even though he doesn't do much of it), and explore new things about this crazy ass world.
