11 Match Star Ratings For WWE SummerSlam 2021

7. The Usos Vs. Rey & Dominik Mysterio - SmackDown Tag Team Title Match

Structured like every modern WWE tag team match ever, the malaise was compounded by the fact that fans have seen this particular version of a WWE tag team match or singles derivations of it countless times in recent months.

This was a match that was impossible to feel anything for and is thus hard to write about. This was skippable boilerplate stuff, which shouldn't be happening if in fact the Usos are at the heart of the "best storyline in wrestling right now".

They aren't.

You could have laid this out in your head before it happened, if you were told the result: Rey takes most of the match to obscure Dominik's shortcomings, the Usos work some neat enough cut-off spots to arrive at that advantage, Dominik does what little he can do with nowt in the way of emotion, Rey's stuff looks as fabulous and feels as absorbing as it always does when he eats an overkill at the finish.

Interchangeable with a TV match in terms of length, pacing, action, creativity, crowd heat, sense of occasion.

Star Rating: ★★¾
