11 Most Disappointing WWE PPV Endings
3. Over The Limit 2012 — Big Johnny Beats Big Match John
If the Miz vs. John Cena at WrestleMania was a tough sell, then I’m not sure what that makes John Laurinaitis vs. Cena from Over the Limit 2012.
A bad match on paper was exactly that in reality. The pair goofed around at ringside with Cena jumping on commentary, pouring water over Laurinaitis and spraying him with a fire extinguisher, before taking the mic and telling him he was putting him in the STF, but he’d release it if he could last 10 seconds. Right.
All that faffing about eventually allowed Laurinaitis to escape—quite literally—as he fled backstage to get away, though he was soon met by the Big Show. That’s the same Big Show who Laurinaitis had humiliated the previous week on Raw and fired, in storyline, for good measure.
Show then led Laurinaitis back to the ring and handed him to Cena, only to then turn heel for the umpteenth time and knock out Cena to give Big Johnny the win.
To make matters worse, this debacle went on last instead of the evening’s earlier WWE Championship match between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.
Go figure.
