11 Most Disappointing WWE PPV Endings

4. WrestleMania XXVII — Tomfoolery In The Main Event

With a main event featuring the largely unproven Miz vs. a polarising John Cena, WrestleMania XXVII was always going to have its work cut out - and a tough sell grew even tougher still when that match became more preoccupied with promoting an entirely different feud—that between Cena and the Rock.

Though the Rock wasn’t officially involved in the match, he had been named as the PPV's host, so it wasn’t too surprising when he emerged at the end of the main event to leave his mark on proceedings.

After the Miz vs. Cena had ended lamely in a double count-out, the Rock came out, browbeat the anonymous General Manager, announced the match was restarting, and then hit Cena with a Rock Bottom for good measure to allow Miz to successfully retain.

Sure, his skit with the GM was pretty funny, but “pretty funny” isn’t quite what you expect from a show-closing match at WrestleMania. Plus, the Rock Bottom on Cena meant that this entire main event had essentially been used as a precursor to hype up a feud for the following year’s show—as if WrestleMania XXVII was just a glorified, well-in-advance pre-show for WrestleMania XXVIII.
