11 Most Random Money In The Bank Ladder Match Participants In WWE History
1. Otis
The 2020 pandemic edition of Money In The Bank was always going to throw up some head-scratching booking decisions. The empty arena wrestling era was still in its early days, and WWE had yet to find the right balance between entertainment value and coherency, especially when filming cinematic matches.
The eponymous ladder match at 2020’s pay-per-view was largely a Corporate Ladder running race, rather than an in-ring ladder match, and despite WWE’s efforts the concept did not stick the landing.
The six-man field of AJ Styles, Aleister Black, Daniel Bryan, Baron Corbin, Rey Mysterio and Otis did their best to make a spectacle out of the convoluted premises of the match, but it was to no avail. Unfortunately, the cherry on top of the melting sundae was the selection of Otis, still part of the Heavy Machinery to win the match and hold the briefcase. Emphasis on hold, as the athletic and admittedly popular big-man held the contract for 193 days, before dropping it to The Miz at Hell In A Cell, making the cinematic match an even greater waste of time.
Otis was a well-liked character, but his inclusion in this match was heavily disputed enough, that actually winning would serve as one of the more laughable booking decisions of the year. He had a ceiling and that roof did not read future World Champion. A random entrant, and an even more random winner.
