11 Ups & 4 Downs For Impact Wrestling In 2020 (So Far)

9. That Best Of Five

Although it seems so long ago at this point, Michael Elgin and Eddie Edwards' best of five series to determine Tessa Blanchard's World Championship challenger did actually take place this year. Hard to believe seeing as things are drastically different now, but at the time, this was perhaps the greatest thing coming out of the company.

Throughout the five matches the pair had together (seven in total, if we're also including their matches on both the Hard To Kill go-home show and the pay-per-view itself), we saw a lot of the same stuff. Many of the same manoeuvres, repeated strikes after repeated strikes that we only just saw in their previous encounter, we could go on. However, because of the pair's intensity towards one another, it felt as if each match was strangely different in its own unique way.

Eddie's fiery spirit against Elgin's pure brutality was always going to make for an interesting combination on any day of the week. Best of series can often be a hard task for the wrestlers involved because you need to keep the fans invested for each of the matches, especially in this case seeing as their series came directly after them already having two matches in recent memory. The fact Eddie and Elgin were able to accomplish such a feat says all you need to know about the pair.
