11 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling No Surrender 2021

3. It's The Little Things

Whenever there's a bulk load of history between any two professional wrestlers, it often adds some callbacks to their recent encounters as they've shared the ring with each other so much. That was precisely the case for TJP and Rohit Raju's latest clash over the X Division Championship.

Simply because they've had so much beef between them over the past few months, Rohit was able to find counters for three of TJP's signature manoeuvres; the TJP Clutch, the Mamba Splash, and the Detonation Kick. These moments, while unimportant out of context, actually add to such an in-depth story arc from the empty arena era of Impact Wrestling. It was already an amazing match, as X Division Championship matches typically are, but this felt that little bit different.

As for Mahabali Shera? Raju's goon was mostly there to look imposing, holding back from laying his hands on TJP too much. What was unique when he did get involved physically is that Shera actually put the defending champion in a rest hold, rather than perform an impact move. This wears down TJP from a cardio standpoint, as opposed to only putting some damage on his body.

A Mamba Splash secured the win for TJP as he marked another successful defence of the X Division Championship. With Josh Alexander next in line to challenge him, it appears as if Rohit Raju's time at the top of the division is over. Let's just hope he doesn't flounder around again. He's far too good for that.
