11 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling No Surrender 2021
2. Revolving Perfectly
The inaugural Triple Threat Revolver Match was always going to be a beautiful contest. It's not always about how good the in-ring action is, of course; often, you also have to take into consideration how well executed the match is from a booking standpoint. As far as this goes, it went down smoother than you could have imagined.
First off, the iron man of the bout was Trey Miguel, who lasted the entire match. 'The Fresh Prince of Mid-Air' didn't look one bit fazed throughout the contest, keeping up the same pace for the duration of his time spent in the ring. Granted, it had Miguel been eliminated earlier on, there would be a feasible story, as Sami Callihan could have gotten involved to provide a distraction, but that he lasted the whole match was a testament to how phenomenal a wrestler he is.
Furthermore, the use of Suicide and Daivari in the match, two guys who should never be winning matches these days, were used in the absolute correct roles here. Suicide began the match and was eliminated first, albeit following a decent showing, whereas Daivari came in and was gone almost immediately after. There wasn't a huge need for those two to be involved, but it's always good to have the veterans included to make it mean more when they're eliminated.
Even the eliminations were done right. Josh Alexander getting submission eliminations over two former X Division Champions in Chris Bey and Ace Austin is just what 'The Walking Weapon' needed to really get his singles career off to a good start. His title match vs. TJP on Tuesday is going to be sweet.
