11 WWE Title Changes That MUST Happen In 2023

1. Universal Championship - Cody Rhodes

Who else could it be? Assuming Cody is somewhere close to fighting fit, he’s the odds on favourite to win the Royal Rumble, and to end Reigns’ incredible run with the Universal Championship. It’s not a surprise, but it’s what the fans want, and that’s almost always the right way to go.

It seems crazy to say, but Cody’s inopportune injury last June could turn out to be a massive boon for performer and company alike. Not only is the shot of his torn pec (and the incredible match that came after) instantly iconic but his return, when it comes, will be seismic.

It’s no exaggeration to say that Rhodes could be a genuine megastar; it’s also fair to say he’s not there just yet. While he has some mainstream TV exposure, he’s a way off being a household name. He could do it, though. He has the presence and grind, and has demonstrated his commendable professionalism working without a contract on his way out of AEW.

All things being equal, WrestleMania 39 should end with Reigns finally staring at the lights, and Cody taking home the big prize for himself, and the whole Rhodes family.
