Reigning IWGP Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa managed to make it to the World Tag League final. But before they could cement their status as New Japan's undisputed top team, they had to face the Los Ingobernables de Japon tandem of EVIL and Sanada.

The near-thirty minute main event was full of back and forth action as both teams fought for the World Tag League trophy. Eventually, EVIL was able to thwart Tama's Gunstun before dropping him with a Darkness Falls and allowing Sanada to followup with a moonsault to secure the victory. In fact, it was the third year in a row which saw the Guerrillas of Destiny make it to the final only to become the runners-up, having lost to Togi Makabe and Tomoaki Honma in 2016, as well as EVIL and Sanada last year.

With two straight years of World Tag League victories, EVIL and Sanada are inarguably New Japan's top team. However, they don't currently have the IWGP titles -- a fact they'll look to rectify at Wrestle Kingdom. Furthermore, another team entered the picture following the match -- one which claims to be not just the best team in NJPW but the entire world.
