9. Bray Wyatt - Jake Roberts
There isnt another performer in the entire wrestling business that is as in tune with their character as Bray Wyatt is. In interviews, hes stated that the reason hes been successful with Bray as opposed to his previous gimmick of Husky Harris is that much of the thoughts, mannerisms and philosophies behind Wyatt are the same as the real life Windham Rotunda. Even though it appears WWE spins their wheels when it comes to booking what should be a cant-miss superstar, Bray continues to overcome the setbacks hes been faced with. A lot of that is his fantastic promo skills. Sometimes criticized as talking in circles, Wyatt has the unique gift of making you pay close attention when he speaks regardless of what hes actually saying. Next to Paul Heyman hes hands down the most gifted promo man in the WWE. While theres a clear Raven influence in the character, so much of Wyatt is reminiscent of Jake The Snake Roberts. Jake was a master orator, a giant among men when it came to telling a story. And the thing that caused him to stand out the most was his soft-spoken style. Where the traditional wrestling promo was usually shouted and full of clichés and overused phrases like The fact of the matter is and Let me tell you something, brother, Roberts spun tales from a unique perspective using a quietude that would draw the listener in. Classics like Wallowing in the muck of avarice are masterclasses in mic work that Bray Wyatt has clearly studied. Along with crafting Snake-style promos, Wyatt exudes that same nefarious personality as a heel that Jake did, but when he finally turns babyface hell easily become one of the most popular guys on the roster, the same as Roberts.
