2. Dean Malenko vs. Scotty 2 Hotty (WWF Backlash 2000)
The Light-Heavyweight Title was the WWF's answer to the more successful WCW Cruiserweight belt. Eventually, WWE would adopt the Cruiserweight Title name as their own, and the Light-Heavyweight version would be instantly forgotten about. There were some tremendous matches to take place for the title however, and one of them was at Backlash 2000. Dean Malenko was the reigning titleholder going into the Pay-Per-View, and he faced Too Cool member Scotty 2 Hotty in the second match on the card. At the time, Scotty was more of a tag-team wrestler, so fans were interested to see him gunning for a singles title. The results surprised everyone, but both men were accomplished workers, and were given ample time to work with. Going just shy of 13 minutes, Malenko and Scotty managed to draw the live crowd into the action. Backlash 2000 is memorable for a cracking main event between Triple H and The Rock, but it's another of those events that gets lost in the shuffle. There was so much great stuff in the year 2000, Dean Malenko vs. Scotty 2 Hotty isn't likely to be high on many people's lists.
