12 Hilarious WWE Backstage Skits You Probably Don't Remember

1. The Dazzler Learns The Iron Arts

In one of the greatest clips ever taken from The JBL & Cole Show, WWE’s hit and miss YouTube skit show of yesteryear, we find the summer 2013 version of Daniel Bryan - as ‘The Dazzler’ - somewhat predictably becoming enraged at having missed out on winning an on air talent contest, and typically, vowing revenge.

Convinced he would have won had he been able to enter, The Dazzler insists upon showing the judges the competition clip that he never got to enter, which features himself and his mentor William Regal, dressed as comedy ninjas, demonstrating their mystical martial arts acumen. One of the brilliant things about The JBL & Cole Show, and other online-only WWE products like it, is that it gave the common-or-garden WWE fan a chance to see incredibly talented people who didn’t get a lot of TV time in the corporate, McMahon/Dunn-controlled environment, showing the world how entertaining they could be.

Amongst many other things, the show gave the world Bad News Barrett. Here, we got to see more of the peerless Regal’s skill as a comic straight man, as well as more of the intense, ranty comic genius of Daniel Bryan back before injury and main event politics turned him into a martyr.

That means we’re witness to the two greatest wrestlers of their respective generations making absolute idiots of themselves, trying desperately not to burst out laughing, and then both get punched in the beanstalks by a vengeful Hornswoggle.

Why was Hornswoggle out for revenge? Because of the number of times the bear-obsessed Bryan had beaten the crap out of him while he was wandering around backstage dressed as a teddy. I am not making this up.

See?
