12 MORE Weird Periods WWE Icons Would Like You To Forget
3. Big Show's Impersonation Gimmick
It's easy to understand why The Big Show could have used a new side to his character in the year 2000. After being essentially the same character as he was during his stint as The Giant in WCW, The Big Show aspired to more than just being the roster's biggest monster. It's a limited role that was largely used to help transition mid-card talent into main event superstars, and the formula was wearing thin.
Meanwhile, when the creative well has run dry, WWE turning to parody is no great surprise. That Big Show spent several months of his life simply coming out to other wrestlers' music and employing their gimmicks was creative laziness on a whole new scale. Coming out to Hulk Hogan's music and doing all his trademark flexes as "The Showster" is bad enough, but having to do the same with Rikishi ("Showkishi") or Val Venis ("The Big Showboski") took things into the gutter.
The Big Show will always be looked back at fondly. An icon of the Attitude Era and someone who played his role as well as anyone, this is a creative low for both himself and WWE.
