Triple H is one of WWE's most recognizable performers of all-time. His rise from the generic Hunter Helmsley gimmick that kicked off his WWE run metamorphosed into 'The Game', 'The Cerebral Assassin', a character for the ages, whether in his more comedic work with D-Generation X or his megalomaniacal run at the top in Evolution or in his own right.

After learning to ply his trade from the legendary Killer Kowalski, the Canadian trainer named Paul Levesque, Terra Ryzing, a clear play on the word "terrorizing" that he thought sounded awesome for his own reasons. Playing the character, Levesque would wear a flamboyant robe and flick his platinum blonde hair in a way that hinted towards his forthcoming Hunter Hurst Helmsley days, with more than a little Ric Flair thrown into the mix.

He carried the name all the way to WCW, where the gimmick was changed pretty quickly to Jean-Paul Lavesque. This gimmick involved him speaking with a French accent because the man from New Hampshire couldn't speak a lick of French. Oh, WCW. Suddenly that Terra Ryzing gimmick doesn't seem so bad.
