12 MORE Weird Periods WWE Icons Would Like You To Forget
10. Dolph Ziggler In The Spirit Squad
Dolph Ziggler is one of the first names that come to mind when considering all of the careers that were destroyed by a completely out-of-touch Vince McMahon. His Money In The Bank cash-in on the Monday Night Raw following WrestleMania 29 remains one of the loudest pops in the past 20 years, and his in-ring work is something that is still marvelled at to this day.
This is all the more impressive when considering he had to overcome his initial run in WWE as part of The Spirit Squad. A group of five male cheerleaders ran between 2006 and 2008, clad in green and white, and largely consisted of being nothing more than a set of goons that were used to do the bidding of the evil Mr. McMahon.
Their stint involved a short reign with the Tag Team titles, where any two members of the five could be used to defend their championship. None of the other four members of The Spirit Squad went on to have significant WWE careers, and so Dolph Ziggler's cheering days are largely buried for good reason.
