12 MORE Weird Periods WWE Icons Would Like You To Forget
9. Batista As Deacon Bautista
Dave Batista is one of the most physically imposing superstars to ever grace the WWE roster. A mountain of muscle who looked like he could punch a hole through a brick wall, he's also gone on to the big screen to be best known as the Kylosian Drax the Destroyer as part of the MCU. The reason we reiterate all of this is that nothing about this man suggests that he could or should be cast as a deacon.
Used to accompany D-Von Dudley in his post-Dudley Boys gimmick of Reverend D-Von, Deacon Bautista would walk to the ring with a collection box that hung around his neck via a gigantic, thick chain. You can see why this was doomed from the start. He would be used as D-Von's muscle-bound sidekick for a few weeks, helping him pick up cheap victories and tagging with the veteran as part of a feud with Randy Orton from May to November of 2002.
Eventually turning on his holy compatriot and defeating Reverend D-Von on the November 14th episode of SmackDown, Dave was reassigned to the Raw brand to quickly be part of the all-conquering Evolution stable.
