12 Most Shocking WWE Title Changes
6. Diesel Beats Backlund On A House Show
Diesel's lone WWF Championship reign is widely remembered as a forced, unpopular push, similar to the company's modern day fascination with Roman Reigns in lieu of universal fan support.
The beginning of the reign was similarly disjointed and strange. He defeated new champion Bob Backlund just three days after the previous title change, and did so...at a house show!?
Admittedly, the untelevised match did take place at Madison Square Garden, but it still seemed an incredibly innocuous start for a champion thought by Vince McMahon to be the new Hulk Hogan. Similarly shocking was the length of the match, an astonishing eight seconds from bell to bell.
