12 Most Shocking WWE Title Changes

4. Bret Defeats Flair...On A House Show!?

The second house show title change on this list, and a bout which would widely be regarded as a dream match-up these days. Like Diesel, Bret Hart was considered to be one of the leading figures of WWF's 'New Generation', and both he and opponent Ric Flair were already thought of as two of the best wrestlers in the world.

It is therefore quite curious that their match, held at a taped event in Saskatoon, Canada, was not originally televised - particularly as it involved such a crucial title change.

The match itself is remembered for Hart dislocating a finger, only to pop it back in place himself as the bout continued to take place. He would go on to hold the title for around half a year, only to lose it in infamous circumstances at WrestleMania IX (where he dropped the belt to Yokozuna in the main event, only for Hulk Hogan to win an impromptu bout immediately afterwards).
