12 New Year's Resolutions For WWE Superstars

8. Braun Strowman Resolves To Stop Being Hilarious

WWE has done a fairly masterful job with the slow burn push of Braun Strowman. Whoever’s influence it was that caused Vince to resist pulling the trigger on having him face The Undertaker at last year’s WrestleMania deserves a tremendous amount of credit, because that would have stunted his momentum in a massive way.

Instead they chose to go the jobber route with the monstrous former Watt Family member, and eventually worked him into matches with top talent. By doing so, he looked like he belonged and has been allowed to develop at a much more beneficial pace.

There’s only one problem with monster heel Braun Strowman…

He’s hilarious.

I don’t mean that in a “Shockmaster/The YETAAAAAY” kind of way, either. Adam Scherr – the man behind the character – is a legitimately funny human being. Between his social media and appearances on the various wrestling podcasts (particularly alongside Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows and Chris Jericho on Talkin’ Shop) we’ve been given a glimpse into the hulking beast that contradicts everything we see in the ring.

I’m not going to be one of those dorks that tries to argue that there’s any semblance of kayfabe left, nor that wrestlers should maintain character at all times when on social media – looking at you, Wade Keller – but I would like to suspend my disbelief just a little bit. And if Braun Strowman keeps making me giggle every time I see him outside of WWE programming I’m not sure how much longer I can buy him as the big, scary purveyor of pain and punishment.
