5. St. Valentine’s Day Massacre: In Your House (1999)

Before No Way Out, Elimination Chamber, and Fastlane became the standard bearers of the February PPV outing, WWE offered their fans St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. Nothing signifies the edgelord tendencies of the Attitude era creative team like a show named after a gang shooting that killed seven people. It’s a wonder why they never did a show in the UK called Bloody Sunday.

Most notable on this card is the main event, which features Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon in a cage match. Of course, what people remember about this match is the finish: a debuting Big Show (here just called Paul Wight) emerged from under the ring and attacked Austin. Unfortunately, Wight threw Austin against the cage door which flung open, allowing Austin to reach the floor and pick up the victory.

Yes: in Wight’s first appearance, his character is portrayed as an idiot. Things wouldn’t really get better for the poor giant.
