12 Things You Need To Know About Sting's WWE Deal And Future
5. Why Only Now?
What took this guy so long? Sting walked out of WCW in 2001 and is only now with WWE in 2014. The thirteen year gap is down to a variety of factors. Firstly, Sting was concerned about how the WWF would portray him. He was proved right to be concerned, when WWE cast WCW legends as jokes in the 2001 invasion. That scared Sting off from jumping into bed with Vince. There was also the money and dates factor. WWE wanted Sting on a full time deal, but he only wanted to do part time. TNA proved the perfect alternative, they offfered him great money for a limited schedule. Sting also felt like TNA was in keeping with his southern fanbase. He took the deal with TNA in 2003 and was there on and off until this year. He felt a sense of loyalty to the brand in the same way he had to WCW. That all changed this year. WWE were now willing to do Sting a deal for good money and limited dates. He himself felt like he wanted to tick the WWE off of his bucket list - and so after all these years the deal finally fell into place!
